Currently residing in Georgia, Rachel Ash has been teaching for thirteen years in three different states. Her teaching style and focus is always research-based methods that complement all learning styles, and her philosophy is about inclusive classrooms and learning. It is due to her wish to educate all types of students that Rachel learned about and began researching first TPRS as a language-delivery style, and later the umbrella teaching philosophy that is comprehensible input. Attending innumerable conferences over her career, Rachel has presented over educational technology, learning styles, and, most commonly, comprehensible methodology at the local, state, and national level. She is currently seeking her Master of Arts in Latin and plans to continue in graduate school to earn her Ph.D.
Miriam Patrick has been teaching for seven years in public schools and has long been passionate about Latin and teaching. She comes from a family of teachers and is proud and thankful to share her title with her parents, grandparents, and other family members. Miriam strives to teach all types of students and uses research based teaching methods in her classroom. In addition to teaching, Miriam maintains membership in the professional teacher community, and attends and presents at local, regional, and national levels. She has presented on a variety of topics, most recently, focusing on Comprehensible Input methods and ideas. Miriam just finished obtaining her Master of Arts degree in Latin and plans to continue her studies to obtain a Ph.D., as well as a higher degree in Arabic. Miriam lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her two canine children.
Pomegranate Beginnings was founded by Rachel and Miriam once they realized how similar their teaching philosophies were. Their shared enthusiasm for the Classics has made maintaining the blog and offering their ideas and activities a joy for both teachers.
